Who was your favorite childhood superhero, and why?
NIGHTCRAWLER!!!! Do I need a reason why? I dunno, Nightcrawler was my favorite just... because. He's the reason I read X-Men comics, just like Riddler is the reason I read Batman comics now (although I've recently gotten into the Red Robin comics, and as far as I know Riddler only has one brief appearance in those, #19, where he's actually a representation of Tim's subconscious, at least the problem-solving part...)
Okay, I'm gonna follow this tangent for a bit. Tim's consciousness is in an evil, virtual reality version of the internet, and he's trying to figure out what's going on. To do this his mind... conjures an imaginary projection of Edward Nigma to ask him lots of riddles? What? Not that I'm complaining! It was kinda funny to watch Riddler follow the heroes around, just hangin' out. My favorite panel might be the one where Tim and Tam are in the front of a car, and Eddie is in the back, leaning and draping his arms over the back of their seat like 'Yo, S'up?" This issue also gets bonus points for having Lonnie Machin/Anarky. However, it loses a whole bunch for depicting Joker in a bloody, Jason Todd-Robin costume. My eyes might have bled a little when I was reading it.

Current Mood: enthralled
EXAMS ARE DONE! THE SEMESTER IS DONE!
Over Christmas break, I plan to write, write, write, write, write. And then read a little. And then write some more.
Also- yes I am enthralled- yesterday I had my first ever visit to a comic book store, because previously my comic shopping was focused online and in local bookstores, but no longer! That place... was amazing.... sure, probably not impressive to more frequent visitors to such places, but for me it was the equivalent of a kid's first trip to the candy store. It was crammed with thousands of comics, no I'm not exaggarating here it was THOUSANDS! The shelves lined every wall, and were densly packed, and the majority of the floor space was given to bins full of comics, old comics, new comics, good comics, bad comics, I'm Dr. Seuss now, whee! I restrained myself, deciding on only purchasing two lest I succumb to the temptation of buying too much for me this close to Christmas, I mean it just feels kind of rude, but anyway I picked up two issues of Gotham Adventures. Guess who they starred? Well, creepy pedo Joker was featured in one, but seriously, Riddler on the cover wasn't much better.
I have determined to collect every issue Eddie was ever in- even if it's only a few panels. Even if he doesn't say anything, even if the comic horribly mangles his character, even if it makes me want to cry. Every issue. I'm gonna do it. I've already got a few- the Loeb/Sale collaborations, volume two of Hush, Kingdom Come, the King Tut arc, Gotham City Sirens volume 1, the special Riddler and Two-Face collection released to accompany Batman Foever which sucked as a movie but the novel had his first appearance ever... some stuff like that.
I've also made it a personal goal to write one million words for my OTP. I haven't set a time limit on this goal, although that might help me focus on it better, but it's still something I want to do. In the next week or so (I hope) I'll have various, unrelated one-shots for them that I"ve been working on, I mean I'll have them finished. The comm's been quiet lately... but then again, it seems to have a lot of quiet spells.
These one million words will include any variation of them, any alternate universe, meaning I'm free to write for Jokester or Enigma or even that guy from the quite frankly bizarre (not in a good way, in an awkward way) Elseworld I, Joker. They might also allow for occasional drabbles which only focus on one character or the other, instead of both as a couple. I haven't worked out the limitations yet.
One final word- mountaindewlipbalm.

YES YES YES I FINALLY FINISHED THE LAST OF MY SCHOOL PROJECTS!!!! NOW AFTER CLASSES END TOMORROW I HAVE NINE DAYS OFF!!!!! This is an amazing feeling. All five of my teachers had decided that, hey, the week right before fall break is a good time to make all these REALLY HUGE PROJECTS due like papers and speeches and powerpoint presentations but SCREW YOU GUYS I FINISHED ALL THAT CRAP!!!
THIS IS A GOOD DAY. OR NIGHT. OR WHATEVER. I CAN ACTUALLY SLEEP MORE THAN TWO OR THREE HOURS TONIGHT. I AM SO HAPPY.
I've also realized that I don't have an icon happy enough to contain this mood, so I'm settling for Linkara, as in, "I'm gonna go watch AT4W now because that makes me even HAPPIER!"

Anyway, Batman the Musical from Batman Beyond. I really should start watching this show now. When it appeared at the end of Linkara's latest review I was shocked, and somewhere between "LOL THIS IS GREAT" and "omgWHAT have they DONE to BATMAN?"
So of course I had to look it up on youtube. Enjoy, lj.

( Lots of icons under cut! :DCollapse )
So, in order of appearance these are icons of: Creeper, Riddler, Batman, Two-Face, Joker, Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, and Bud and Lou (the hyenas).
A few of these icons seem rather similar to other icons I've seen before, but I've been unable to find them again so I made my own version. *shrugs*

Procrastination plus Rogues plus dissatisfaction with the available mood themes equals ROGUE MOOD THEME... where like, half of them are Eddie. XD
Check it out! Also, Linkara!userpic!! XD
I realize the mood theme is a little taller than most, but the moods are all perfectly 100x100, so they can double as icons! TCH'YEAH!!!

I hit 1,000 words at about 1 this morning and decided to stop there and go to bed. Just wanted to celebrate.
Am I going to post every time I get another thousand words?

So I recently overheard a discussion in one of my classes about Dan Blankenship, the CEO of Massey Energy Co. Apparently this guy sends out 'How to Vote Pamphlets' or something, and I'm pretty much going to vote the exact opposite of anything he says.
In case you have no idea who he is or why I'm upset, here ya go: http://www.roanoke.com/editorials/radmacher/wb/245221
I don't know any miners, but I do know a few families with miners- some who have lost loved ones due to safety violations and such and shit, this is stupid stuff that could have been avoided. WTF is wrong with Massey?
